Shri Radhe Maa - Lord Shiva teaches Shankaracharya a lesson

Lord Adi Shankaracharya, the great philosopher preached that the same supreme reality, existed in all beings as the atma or soul. People had different bodies but there was the same Supreme soul who shone through all beings.

However, despite this knowledge he was not perfect. Lord Shiva appeared to Adi Shankara as a Chandala, a person of who was looked down upon by the caste-ridden society of that time and age. The chandala four dogs with him, and he stood on the way. Shankaracharya asked the Chandala to move himself.

The Chandala asked Shankara if the self meant the body or the soul for him. Because if he meant the Soul and that soul was identical with God as he preached to the world, how could that Supreme Soul move? Where would it move to - because God permeated all existence.

Humbled, Shankarachara fell at Lord Shiva's feet and exclaimed that whoever possesed such knowledge was his Master!

May Lord Shiva as the supreme teacher of the universe bless us with light, knowledge and liberation!
